Greetings DOVEs,

We had a small get together in Quartzite January 16th. Rose Marie and Dick Hartman were there and gave the current schedule and answered questions regarding our training this fall at the September Escapade. Look forward to the posting on our site shortly.

I spoke about the necessity for each DSHR member to be proactive and monitor their DSHR Profile at: https://dshr.redcross.org/Graphic_Interface/login.asp It is the member’s responsibility, not the Chapters, so please be sure and go onto this site and update your DSHR Profile. If you do not have a user name or password, please contact your Chapter and they will give one.

We also discussed at length the www.dovebof.org web site. This is a very informative site thanks to John Watson, our Web Master, so please visit it at your leisure. We have many important links within the site, which will take you to Crossnet, (password needed) various training institutes, and the Red Cross News Room for the most updated information. While reviewing the site, please be sure to place yourself on our map. There are Chapters who go online to see who may be in their area. They may contact you for help. Remember, even if you have a home Chapter, you can always stop by and give support to other Chapters as you travel throughout the United States. Plus, other DOVEs would like to know where you may be located.

Steve Masterson (Vice President) and John Watson (Web Master) have spent many hours working on a data base which houses the DOVE membership roster along with the SKP membership. Remember, if your dues lapse as a SKP member, you may not be a DOVE. If you go onto the Dove Site, Members Area, Check Your Member Status, you’ll have your questions answered regarding your membership status.

We have had several DOVEs concerned that they have not been deployed in some time. This statement is true within the entire structure of the Red Cross. We just haven’t had any major disasters within our Nation. This is a good thing, but please, be patient, we need each and every one of you, because soon there will be a big disaster and the Red Cross will need every volunteer they can get their hands on, and you will be one of them.
